Rangers assign Avery to AHL @NHLdotcom
Sean Avery is headed to the American Hockey League. Again.

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced Saturday afternoon that Avery will play for the Connecticut Whale for the second time this season.

Avery, 31, has registered 3 goals and 21 penalty minutes in 15 NHL games this season, but hadn't dressed for the past 10 contests and was placed on waivers Friday. He has a goal seven penalty minutes in two AHL contests this season.

The Pickering, Ontario native was acquired by the Rangers off re-entry waivers from the Dallas Stars on March 3, 2009.
