PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Rangers defenseman Marc Staal fired a shot in off the right post with 1:11 left in the third period to give New York a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night.
The final preseason game for both teams had a rough edge to it as the clubs combined for 31 penalties and several fights.
Brandon Dubinsky and Nigel Dawes also scored for the Rangers (3-2-1). Mike Richards and Simon Gagne had goals for Philadelphia (3-5).
Dubinsky put the Rangers ahead with a rebound on a power play at 7:15 of the second period.

Dawes' slap shot tied the game at 1:43 of the third.
Martin Biron stopped 35 shots for the Flyers. New York's Henrik Lundqvist had 26 saves.
A total of 94 minutes in penalties were assessed, including 46 in the first period when New York's Chris Drury fought Richards and was given a major and a misconduct. The Rangers were given 54 minutes in penalties overall.
Philadelphia's Jason Smith squared off with Colton Orr and Brendan Shanahan, and New York's Jason Strudwick fought Riley Cote in other bouts.
