Ranford with five points to lead the Blazers over the Giants 6-3 @NHLdotcom

Brendan Ranford had a two goal, five-point night, as the Kamloops Blazers defeated the host Vancouver Giants 6-3 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Brandon Herrod scored a hat-trick for the Blazers (46-17-5), who sit second in the Western Conference, and linemate Jordan DePape picked up three assists.

Tim Bozon added a single goal.

Jordan Martinook, Matt Bellerive and David Musil scored for the Giants (37-26-5), who sit fifth in the West.

With the win Cole Cheveldale picked up his 33rd victory of the season while Jackson Whistle, who came in for Adam Morrison, turned aside 19 of 23 shots in defeat.

Kamloops went 3 for 10 on the power play as Vancouver scored once on three opportunities with the man advantage.
