Rakell and Heard two goals each as the Whalers beat the Rangers 6-1 @NHLdotcom

KITCHENER, Ont. - Rickard Rakell and Mitchell Heard had two goals apiece as the Plymouth Whalers crushed the host Kitchener Rangers 6-1 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Andy Bathgate had a goal and an assist for the Whalers (29-9-3), who have now won seven games in a row, while Alex Aleardi also scored. Tom Wilson pitched in with two assists.

Ben Thomson scored the lone goal for the Rangers (27-12-1).

Scott Wedgewood stopped 37 shots for the win as Franky Palazzese allowed six goals on 42 shots.

Plymouth failed to score on their only opportunity with the man advantage while Kitchener went 0 for 6.
