Quick, Kings shut out Avalanche in Las Vegas @NHLdotcom

First-period goals by Dustin Brown and Kyle Clifford led the Los Angeles Kings to a 4-0 victory against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday in the annual Frozen Fury preseason game at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Brown scored at 8:56 of the opening period, converting a passout by Dwight King. Clifford stuffed a shot past Avalanche goalie Reto Berra at 15:00 for a 2-0 lead.

Trevor Lewis scored 5:17 into the second period and Marian Gaborik had a third-period goal for the Kings (4-1-1), who outshot the Avalanche 28-6 through two periods.

Jonathan Quick made 14 saves for Los Angeles, which opens its regular season at home against the San Jose Sharks on Oct. 7 (10:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN).

Berra made 28 saves for Colorado, which finished the preseason 1-4-1. The Avalanche begin the regular season against the Minnesota Wild at Pepsi Center on Oct. 8 (9 p.m. ET, NBCSN).
