NEW YORK - Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick was named National Hockey League first star of the week Monday.
Quick recorded three consecutive road victories last week. He made 29 saves for a 1-0 shutout victory at Ottawa last Tuesday, stopped 41 shots in a 5-4 win over Washington on Thursday and made 25 saves in a 3-1 win over New Jersey on Saturday.
Detroit Red Wings right-winger Marian Hossa was named second star and Washington Capitals defenceman Mike Green was named third star.
Hossa recorded seven points (6-1) to help the Red Wings post four consecutive victories last week. He closed the week by reaching the 30-goal mark for the seventh time in the past eight seasons.
Green, who was also named third star last week, had seven points (4-3) in three games.
His current six-game goal-scoring streak is the longest by an NHL defenceman since Ray Bourque's six-game streak for Boston in March 1984. Green is one shy of the league record for blue-liners set by the Bruins' Mike O'Connell in January 1984.
Green leads all defencemen this season with 19 goals and 47 points.
