Quebec Remparts edge Chicoutimi Sagueneens 2-1 to stay unbeaten in QMJHL @NHLdotcom

The Quebec Remparts are the only perfect team left standing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

Kurt Etchegary's third-period goal lifted the Quebec Remparts to a 2-1 victory over the Chicoutimi Sagueneens on Tuesday.

The victory moved the undefeated Remparts atop the league standings at 5-0-0.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Halifax 6, Acadie-Bathurst 2; Shawinigan 5, Val-d'Or 1; and Victoriaville 5, Sherbrooke 1.

At Chicoutimi, Que., Martin Lefebvre opened the scoring for the Remparts at 12:29 in the first.

The Sagueneens (2-3-1) got one back in the second after Mathieu Gagnon capitalized on a tripping penalty by Axel Rioux and tied the game on the power play at 11:42.

But Etchegary's goal just 2:22 into the third put Quebec ahead for good and into the overall league lead.

Remparts goaltender Francois Brassard made 22 saves for the win, while at the other end Francis Desrosiers stopped 25 shots.

Mooseheads 6, Titan 2

At Halifax, the Mooseheads (4-1-0) scored six unanswered goals to cruise past Acadie-Bathurst (3-2-1).


Cataractes 5, Foreurs 1

At Shawinigan, Que., Peter Sakaris scored a hat trick to pace the Cataractes (1-2-1) past Val-d'Or (1-4-0).


Tigres 5, Phoenix 1

At Victoriaville, Que., five different Tigres (3-2-1) scored to keep Sherbrooke (0-6-0) the QMJHL's lone team without a win.
