Daniel Audette, who plays for the Sherbrooke Phoenix of the QMJHL, had a goal and an assist and was named player of the game for the QMJHL. A top 2014 NHL Draft prospect, the 5-foot-8, 177-pound left wing earned a B rating from NHL Central Scouting in its November player to watch list.
Anthony Mantha and Christopher Clapperton also scored for the QMJHL and goalie Sebastien Auger made 22 saves as QMJHL swept their two games in the Super Series for the first time since 2009. The QMJHL won 3-2 on Monday in Gatineau, Quebec.
Russia's Ivan Barbashev, another top 2014 draft prospect who plays in the QMJHL with the Moncton Wildcats, had a goal for the second straight Super Series game. He earned an A rating from Central Scouting in its November player to watch list.
Igor Rudenkov, another 2014 draft prospect, had a goal and an assist, Mark Skutar had a goal and Vladimir Tkachyov had two assists. Goalie Igor Shesterkin stopped 37 of 41 shots.
The game was tied 3-3 in the third period when Nikolas Brouillard drew three Russia skaters toward him and backhanded a pass into the slot. Duclair, a 2013 third-round pick of the New York Rangers (No. 80), grabbed it in traffic, spun and slid a low backhander under Shesterkin at 12:26 of the third.
The Super Series now shifts to the Ontario Hockey League, with games Nov. 21 in Oshawa, Ontario, and Nov. 25 in Sudbury, Ontario.
Audette, the son of long-time NHL player Donald Audette, opened the scoring 3:11 into the game. Laurent Dauphin took the puck behind the Russia net and tried for a wraparound that Russian goalie Igor Shesterkin blocked, but Audette drove to the net and banged in the rebound.
Minutes later, after Dauphin was called for a five-minute major for checking from behind and a game misconduct, Skutar fired a rocket from the point that got past Auger at 13:57.
The QMJHL re-took the lead when Mantha, who scored the winner Monday, scored on the power play at 16:24. The lead held until eight seconds remained in the first when Rudenkov scored.
Clapperton, a 2013 fifth-round pick of the Florida Panthers (No. 122) scored at 4:33 of the second to give QMJHL a 3-2 lead. Daniel Walcott and Marco Roy assisted on the goal; all three play for Blainville-Boisbriand in the QMJHL.
Barbashev's goal at 9:58 of the second tied the game. Russia had chances to go ahead prior to Duclair's goal but couldn't take advantage of a pair of power plays, when Emile Poirier was sent off for charging at 5:16 and Ryan Graves for tripping at 9:07.
