QMJHL Roundup: Wildcats rout Sea Dogs to tie for top spot in Maritimes division

MONCTON, N.B. - Captain Christophe Lalonde scored twice and added three assists for the Moncton Wildcats in a 7-0 rout of the Saint John Sea Dogs on Friday night in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

The win moves the Wildcats (8-4-0) into a tie for first place in the Maritimes division with the Sea Dogs (7-3-2).

Ivan Barbashev, Vladimir Tkachev, Cameron Askew, Stephen Johnson and Mathieu Olivier supplied the rest of Moncton's offence.

Alex Dubeau made 16 saves for the shutout.

Sebastien Auger made 24-of-29 saves for Saint John in 40 minutes of work. Bobby Dugan stopped 10-of-12 shots in relief.

The Wildcats scored five times on 13 chances with the man advantage while the Sea Dogs didn't score on six power-play opportunities.

CHARLOTTETOWN ? Bradley Kennedy and Oliver Coopers both scored in the second period for the Islanders as they topped Acadie-Bathurst.

Ryan MacKinnon and Alexandre Goulet also found the back of the net for the Islanders (6-5-2).

Aaron Kerr had a goal for the Titans (4-9-0) in the loss.

HALIFAX ??? Winnipeg Jets draft pick Nikolaj Ehlers struck twice and added an assist in the Mooseheads victory over Cape Breton.

Jean-Sebastien Taillefer, Vincent Watt and Maxime Fortier rounded out Halifax's (4-6-2) attack.

Francis Brunelle scored his first two goals of the year for the Screaming Eagles (6-7-1).

Samuel Roussy scored on the power play for the Sagueneens (5-7-1) to open the game.

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. ??? Philippe Cadorette made 41 saves to help the Drakkar blank Rimouski.

Alexis Vanier and Maxime St-Cyr had power-play goals for Baie-Comeau (8-4-1), while Luca Ciampini rounded out the scoring.

Philippe Desrosiers turned aside 18 shots for the Oceanic (10-4-0) in the loss.

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. ??? Kay Schweri and Raphael Lafontaine both scored in the shootout in Sherbrooke's come-from-behind victory over the Voltigeurs.

Tim Wieser had his 12th goal of the year on the power play to tie for game for the Phoenix (9-4-0). Julien Bahl also had a goal in regulation.

Marc-Antoine Bouillon and Charles-David Beaudoin both struck for Drummondville (5-5-2).
