QMJHL Roundup: Murray's two goals lead Voltigeurs past Tigres 5-4 @NHLdotcom

Jordan Murray scored twice, including the game winner, as the Drummondville Voltiguers downed the host Victoriaville Tigres 5-4 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

The 20-year-old scored his goals three minutes apart late in the second period, with the second one standing up as the winning goal, and chipped in an assist for a three-point outing.

Bryce Milson had a goal and an assist for the Voltiguers (5-5-0) and Marc-Olivier Brouillard and Olivier Caouette scored a goal apiece.

Philippe Maillet led the Tigres (3-5-3) offensively with two goals and Angelo Micelo had a goal and an assist. Jean-Francois Leblanc added a single goal to round out Victoriaville's scoring.

Louis-Philip Guindon stopped 27 shots for the win as Brandon Whitney allowed five goals on 18 shots through 40 minutes of play to pick up the loss.

Guillaume Decelles stopped all four shots he faced in relief.

Drummondville went 2-for-5 on the power play while Victoriaville went 2-for-4.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Baie-Comeau 2, Rimouski 0; Halifax 4, Shawinigan 1; Rouyn-Noranda 6, P.E.I. 3; Val-d'Or 7 Saint John 1.

At Victoriaville, Que., the Voltiguers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first period.

Milson opened the scoring 1:01 into the game, Brouillard followed with a power-play goal at 11:10 and Caouette added another at 16:26.

A power-play goal from Leblanc 5:13 into the second period put the Tigres on the board.

Maillet scored another goal for Victoriaville at 11:13, but Murray scored back-to-back goals to make it 5-2 Drummondville after 40 minutes of play.

Maillet and Miceli each added one more goal for the Tigres in the third period.

At Rimouski, Que., Simon Lemieux stopped all 24 shots he faced and Valentin Zykov's goal 1:25 into the first period stood up as the winner as Baie-Comeau (5-4-0) blanked the Oceanic (7-2-1).

At Shawinigan, Que., Luca Ciampini and Matthew Boudreau had a goal and an assist each as Halifax (9-1-0) downed the Cataractes (2-6-1) for its seventh win in a row.

At Charlottetown, Maxime St-Cyr scored twice and Redgie Bois had a goal and an assists as Rouyn-Noranda (7-2-1) doubled up P.E.I. (7-3-0).


Foreurs 7 Sea Dogs 1

At Saint John, N.B., Anthony Mantha scored three goals and set up one more and Francois Tremblay made 30 saves as Val-d'Or (4-6-0) crushed the SeaDogs (5-5-0).
