QMJHL Roundup: Maillet, Leblanc lift Tigres to 2-1 shootout win over Titan @NHLdotcom

Philippe Maillet and Jean-Francois Leblanc made all the difference for the Victoriaville Tigres on Wednesday.

Maillet had a power-play goal in regulation time then both scored in the shootout as Victoriaville edged the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 2-1 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

The Tigres (11-10-5) took a 1-0 lead with 30 seconds to go in the second period as Maillet scored on the man advantage.

Zach O'Brien tied the game 1-1 for Acadie-Bathurst (10-15-5) just 23 seconds into the third

Leblanc and Maillet then had the winners for Victoriaville in the shootout.

O'Brien was the only skater to have a goal for the Titan in the shootout.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Chicoutimi 5 Cape Breton 2; PEI 5 Quebec 3 and Saint John 5 Rouyn-Noranda 1.

At Bathurst, N.B., Brandon Whitney made 38 saves and turned aside three skaters in the shootout for the win, while Jacob Brennan stopped 39 shots and two shootout attempts.

At Sydney, N.S., Chicoutimi (14-11-3) scored four goals in the first period and fended off Cape Breton (7-16-5) for the win.

Rocket 5 Remparts 3

At Quebec City, captain Josh Currie struck twice and added an assist as P.E.I. (14-10-2) downed the Remparts (19-6-1).

Sea Dogs 5 Huskies 1

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Kevin Gagne had two goals and two assists for Saint John (14-12-0) to drop the Huskies (16-9-1).
