QMJHL Roundup: Brennan bails out Titan in come from behind win over Drakkar @NHLdotcom

Jacob Brennan stopped all 29 shots he faced in relief as the Acadie-Bathurst Titan came from behind to beat the host Baie-Comeau Drakkar 5-4 in a shootout on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Brennan replaced Mason McDonald midway through the second period after Mason allowed four goals on 24 shots in 30 minutes of action.

The victory improved Brennan to 17-20-1 with a 3.43 goals-against average and .903 save percentage in 43 appearances this season.

Zach O'Brien scored once in regulation and the shootout winner for the Titan (21-26-6), who trailed 4-2 heading into the third period. O'Brien also tacked on an assist and now has 36 goals and 73 points in 51 contests, which places him fifth in QMJHL scoring.

Christophe Lalancette, Adam Stevens, and Micheal Beaudry also scored for Acadie-Bathurst.

Petr Straka led the Drakkar (34-13-5) with two goals and two assists and Raphael Bussieres and Maxim Lamarche each scored once.

Carl Gelinas chipped in with three assists for Baie-Comeau and Francis Desrosiers made 27 saves in a losing cause.

Both clubs were able to produce with their power play as Acadie-Bathurst went 2 for 6 and Baie-Comeau 3 for 7.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Shawinigan 3, Saint John 2 (OT); Drummondville 3, Moncton 2; Rimouski 3, Val-d'Or 1; Victoriaville 4, Sherbrooke 3; Gatineau 6, Rouyn-Noranda 3 and Blainville-Boisbriand 3, Quebec 2.

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Straka opened the scoring at 7:13 of the first period and Lamarche made it 2-0 for the Drakkar four minutes later with a power-play goal.

O'Brien responded for the Titan only 10 seconds after Lamarche's goal, however Bussieres scored with the man advantage to make it 3-1 Baie-Comeau after 20 minutes of play.

Beaudry scored on the power play 2:23 into the second period to make it 3-2, but Straka struck while up a man eight minutes later to force McDonald out of Acadie-Bathurst's net.

Stevens cut into the Drakkar's lead 7:35 into the third period and Lalancette produced on the power play 39 seconds later to force overtime.


Cataractes 3 Sea Dogs 2 (OT)

At Shawinigan, Que., Frank Schumacher's first-career QMJHL goal came 2:43 into overtime and Marvin Cupper made 34 saves as the Cataractes (12-32-6) edged Saint John (19-30-1), which is winless in six games.


Voltigeurs 3 Wildcats 2

At Drummondville, Que., Jeremie Malouin scored two goals, including the winner at 2:49 of the third period, and Louis-Philip Guindon stopped 29 -of-31 shots as the Voltigeurs (27-19-4) snapped Moncton's (33-17-1) nine-game win streak.


Oceanic 3 Foreurs 1

At Rimouski, Que., Kevin Gagne set up all three of his club's goals and Robin Gusse turned away 32 shots as the Oceanic (35-11-5) extended their win streak to 10 games by downing the Foreurs (26-22-3), who have dropped three games in a row.


Tigres 4 Phoenix 3

At Sherbrooke, Que., Philippe Hudon and Philippe Maillet each had a goal and an assist while Brandon Whitney made 35 saves as Victoriaville (21-22-8) handed the Phoenix (14-31-6) their third straight defeat.


Olympiques 6 Huskies 4

At Gatineau, Que., Martin Reway and Rock Regimbald both had two goals and an assist and Tomas Hyka and Etienne Boutet each had three assists as the Olympiques (23-24-3) defeated Rouyn-Noranda (30-20-1), which is just 3-7-0 in its last 10 outings.


Armada 3 Remparts 2

At Quebec City, Marcus Hinds scored the winning goal 2:08 into the third period and Etienne Marcoux turned away 19-of-21 shots as Blainville-Boisbriand (30-14-6) edged the Remparts (29-18-3).
