The Halifax Mooseheads made an offensive statement as the playoffs draw closer.
The Mooseheads bombed the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 7-0 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Wednesday.
Nathan MacKinnon scored twice and had two assists, while Brent Andrews added two goals and one assist.
Luca Ciampini, Ryan Falkenham and Martin Frk added singles for Halifax (37-20-6), which opened the first period with four unanswered goals.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Quebec 7, Drummondville 3; Blainville-Boisbriand 4, Victoriaville 3 (SO); and Chicoutimi 5, Rimouski 3.
At Halifax, the Titan (30-30-5) did everything they could to break the shutout, but Zachary Fucale made 35 saves while the Mooseheads' offence ran wild.
With a 4-0 lead, Andrews scored short handed in the second before Frk added his goal just 33 seconds later.
MacKinnon capped the scoring in the third to end Acadie-Bathurst's misery.
Titan starter Jacob Brennan was pulled after giving up six goals on 14 shots. He was replaced by Robert Steeves, who allowed one goal on 16 shots.
Remparts 7, Voltigeurs 3
At Quebec City, Frederick Roy scored twice and had three assists as the Remparts (42-15-7) blasted Drummondville (25-30-9).
Armada 4, Tigres 3 (SO)
At Victoriaville, Que., Raphael Pouliot scored the lone goal in the shootout to lift Blainville-Boisbriand (36-22-5) past the Tigres (40-18-6).
Sagueneens 5, Oceanic 3
At Chicoutimi, Que., the Sagueneens (33-21-9) opened the game with four unanswered goals in the first period to beat Rimouski (38-24-2).
