QMJHL Roundup: A look at Tuesday's games @NHL

With a five-point performance, Yanni Gourde is the new scoring leader in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Gourde scored two goals and set up three more as the Victoriaville Tigres crushed the Drummondville Voltiguers 9-3 on Tuesday night.

Stefan Fournier also had five points for the Tigres (22-13-2), scoring three goals and two assists, while Philippe Halley had a hat trick and Philippe Maillett scored a goal and two assists. Brandon Hynes chipped in with four assists.

Marc-Olivier Brouillard scored twice for the Voltiguers (14-19-5) as Emil Sylvegard added a goal and an assist.

Brandon Whitney made 20 saves for the win while Domenic Graham stopped 11-of-15 shots before being pulled in the second period for Simon Giroux. Giroux allowed five goals on 23 shots in relief.

Both teams were successful on the power play as Victoriaville went 4 for 8 and Drummondville 3 for 6.

With 69 points in 37 games Gourde has a three-point lead over Acadie-Bathurst Titan forward Zach O'Brien for the league scoring lead.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Halifax 6, P.E.I. 4; Rimouski 4, Quebec 3 (SO); Shawinigan 4, Blainville-Boisbriand 2; Chicoutimi 3, Baie-Comeau 2, (SO) and Val-d'Or 8, Rouyn-Noranda 3.

At Drummondville, Que., Fournier opened the scoring with a power-play goal 4:48 into the first period, giving the Tigres a 1-0 lead.

Brouillard responded with a power-play goal for the Voltiguers at 8:44, but less than a minute later Maillet scored to give Victoriaville a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.

Gourde extended his team's lead just 20 seconds into the second period, however Sylvegard made it 3-2 on the power play at 7:04.

Gourde added his second of the game at 10:53, which meant the end of the night for Graham as Giroux came on in relief.

Halley scored with four seconds remaining in the middle period to give the Tigres a 5-2 lead heading into the third period.

Victoriaville expanded their lead with three straight goals to open the final period as Halley scored first, followed by Fournier with the man advantage, and then Halley again with a power-play goal of his own to complete the hat trick.

Brouillard put one more extra-man goal on the board for Drummondville but Fourier completed his hat trick with a power-play goal, giving the Tigres a 9-3 victory.

At Halifax, six Mooseheads players recorded a multi-point game as Halifax (23-11-3) defeated P.E.I. (8-25-4).


Oceanic 4 Remparts 3 (SO)

At Quebec City, Rimouski's (23-17-0) Alexandre Mallet scored the winner in a shootout and Jacob Gervais-Chouinard made 34 saves, snapping the Remparts (28-6-4) six-game winning streak.


Cataractes 4 Armada 2

At Shawinigan, Que., Yannick Veilleux scored twice and Gabriel Girard turned away 38 shots as the Cataractes (26-9-4) doubled up Blainville-Boisbriand (20-15-2).


Sagueneens 3 Drakkar 2 (SO)

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Charles Hudon had a goal and an assist in regulation and then scored again in the shootout to lift Chicoutimi (18-11-8) over the Drakkar (19-15-3).


Foreurs 8 Huskies 3

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Benjamin Casavant scored three times and set up two more as Val-d'Or (16-19-4) snapped their five-game winless streak, defeating the Huskies (12-26-2).
