QMJHL Roundup: A look at Saturday's games @NHL

Brothers Allain and Alex Saulnier combined for four goals and nine points as the Moncton Wildcats edged the visiting Baie-Comeau Drakkar 6-5 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Alex Saulnier led the way with two goals and three assists while Allain Saulnier scored twice and set up two more.

Dmitri Jaskin and Yannick Veilleux had a goal and two assists each for the Wildcats (15-10-0), who have won seven of their last 10 outings.

Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau scored twice for the Drakkar (17-6-3) and Steve Lebel and Valentin Zykov each had a goal and an assist.

Julien Lepage chipped in with two assists while Alexandre Ranger added a single goal to round out Baie-Comeau's offence.

Neither starting goaltender made it through 60 minutes of action.

Alex Dubeau allowed three goals on 12 shots and was pulled after one period for Moncton while Baie-Comeau's Philippe Cadorette allowed five goals on 22 shots in 28 minutes before getting yanked.

Cole Holewenko stopped 11-of-13 shots to pick up the win for the Wildcats as Simon Lemieux made 13-of-14 saves in a losing cause for the Drakkar.

Moncton finished the game 3 for 4 on the power play while Baie-Comeau scored once on five chances with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Sherbrooke 2, Rimouski 1; Saint John 4, Cape Breton 1; Rouyn-Noranda 6, Acadie-Bathurst 2 and Val-d'Or 4, Shawinigan 1.

At Moncton, N.B., Lebel and Paquin-Boudreau scored less than two minutes apart to give Baie-Comeau a 2-0 lead midway through the first period.

Alex Saulnier cut the Drakkar's lead in half at 15:50 with a power-play goal, but Paquin-Boudreau scored again at 18:32 to make it 3-1 Baie-Comeau after 20 minutes of play.

Allain Saulnier opened the second period with back-to-back power-play goals to tie the game for Moncton.

Jaskin gave the Wildcats their first lead of the game at 6:53 and Alex Saulnier made it 5-3 at 8:37.

Ranger scored with just four seconds remaining in the period to make it 5-4 heading into the final period.

Veilleux scored the eventual winner 6:37 into the third period before Zykov added a late goal for the Drakkar.

At Rimouski, Que., Jacob Gervais-Chouinard turned away 43-of-44 shots and Jean-Christophe Laflamme scored the winning goal at 15:07 of the third period as Sherbrooke (5-19-2) ended a four-game winless streak by edging the Oceanic (14-9-4).

At Saint John, N.B., Stephen MacAulay scored twice and set up one more while Sebastien Auger stopped 25 shots as the Sea Dogs (12-12-0) beat Cape Breton (7-15-5), which has dropped four games in a row.


Huskies 6 Titan 2

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Nikita Kucherov, Marcus Power and Gabriel Desjardins each had a goal and an assist as the Huskies (16-8-1) picked up their third straight victory by defeating Acadie-Bathurst (10-15-4).


Foreurs 4 Cataractes 1

At Val-d'Or, Que., Michael Beaudry scored twice and Anthony Mantha had a goal and an assist as the Foreurs (13-11-2) handed Shawinigan (4-19-3) its sixth straight defeat.
