QMJHL Roundup: A look at Saturday's games @NHLdotcom

Josh Currie scored the winning goal in the third period and added an assist as the P.E.I. Rocket edged the host Rimouski Oceanic 4-3 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

The 20-year-old centre now has 19 goals and 38 points in 20 games, which leads the QMJHL in scoring, and four of those goals have been game winners.

Ben Duffy, Victor Provencher and Louis Marcotte also had a goal and an assist each for the Rocket (12-7-1) while Erik Robichaud chipped in with a single assist.

Duffy now has 15 goals and 38 points in 20 games, which ties him for the QMJHL points lead with teammate Currie.

Scott Oke scored twice for the Oceanic (11-7-3), who have dropped back-to-back outings, and Ryan MacKinnon added a single goal.

Maxime Lagace stopped 36-of-39 shots to pick up his fifth win of the season as Philippe Desrosiers made 22 saves in a losing cause.

P.E.I. went 1 for 4 on the power play while Rimouski scored twice on seven chances with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was Victoriaville 5, Halifax 4; Shawinigan 3, Cape Breton 2, Sherbrooke 4, Acadie-Bathurst 3; Drummondville 6, Saint John 2; Moncton 6, Gatineau 2 and Baie-Comeau 4, Val-d'Or 2.

At Rimouski, Que., Provencher opened the scoring 3:56 into the game, however Oke scored a power-play goal with only one second remaining in the period to make it 1-1 after 20 minutes of play.

Marcotte and Duffy scored 1:38 apart in the second period to give P.E.I. a 3-1 lead heading into the final period.

Currie made it 4-1 Rocket with a power-play goal 5:15 into the third period.

MacKinnon got one back for the Oceanic on the power play at 8:19 and Oke added a late goal at 17:58 to bring the game within one.

At Victoriaville, Que., Angelo Miceli scored once and set up three more, including both of Dominik Rehak's goals, as the Tigres (9-7-3) handed Halifax (17-2-1) its first regulation-time loss in 17 outings.


Cataractes 3 Screaming Eagles 2

At Shawinigan, Que., Vincent Arseneau broke a 2-2 tie at 5:43 of the third period and Marvin Cupper stopped 37 shots as the Cataractes (4-14-2) edged Cape Breton (5-11-4), which has lost three games straight.


Phoenix 4 Titan 3

At Sherbrooke, Que., Jeremy Beaudry, who scored twice, Cole Hawes and Anthony Verret gave the Phoenix a 4-0 lead midway through the second period and Jacob Gervais-Chouinard stopped 38 shots as Sherbrooke (4-15-2) held on to beat Acadie-Bathurst (9-9-4).

At Drummondville, Que., Marc-Olivier Brouillard and Guillaume Gauthier each scored twice in the third period as the Voltiguers (10-10-0) downed Saint John (10-10-0) for their first win in three outings.


Wildcats 6 Olympiques 2

At Gatineau, Que., Dmitri Jaskin had two goals and two assists and Cole Holowenko turned away 18 shots as Moncton (13-9-0) defeated the Olympiques (6-13-1), who have lost four games in a row.


Drakkar 4 Foreurs 2

At Val-d'Or, Que., Steve Lebel scored twice and Philippe Cadorette stopped 34-of-36 shots as Baie-Comeau (14-4-2) picked up at least one point in their 12th straight game by doubling up the Foreurs (9-9-2).
