QMJHL Roundup: A look at Saturday's games @NHLdotcom

Jonathan Drouin scored three times as the Halifax Mooseheads defeated the visiting Chicoutimi Sagueneens 6-2 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

The 17-year-old forward has a five-game point streak, which includes eight goals and 14 points.

Linemate Nathan MacKinnon had a goal and an assist for the Mooseheads (14-1-0), who have won 12 straight games, and the two points extended his point streak to 11 games.

MacKinnon's streak includes 13 goals and 21 points and gives him 18 total goals, which is best in the QMJHL.

Darcy Ashley had a goal and an assist while Trey Lewis added a single goal to round out Halifax's offence.

Guillaume Asselin had a goal and an assist for the Sagueneens (6-8-2), who have dropped four straight contests, and Lukas Sedlak scored the other.

Zachary Fucale only had to make 15 saves for the win as Francis Desrosiers allowed five goals on 34 shots before getting pulled midway through the third period.

Mathieu Duquette played the final 10:51 of the game and stopped 6-of-7 shots in relief.

Halifax went 1-for-3 on the power play while Chicoutimi failed to score on four chances with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Moncton 4, Sherbrooke 3 (OT); Blainville-Boisbriand 7, Acadie-Bathurst 1; Cape Breton 4, Drummondville 3 and Rouyn-Noranda 5, Rimouski 1.

At Halifax, Asselin opened the scoring 3:51 into the first period and Sedlak added another at 11:56 to give Chicoutimi a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Drouin responded for the Mooseheads 1:09 into the second period and MacKinnon followed on the power play at 13:32 to make it 2-2- heading into the final period.

Drouin scored back-to-back goals less than six minutes into the third to give Halifax a 4-2 lead.

Lewis made it a three-goal game at 9:09 and Ashley added a short-handed goal at 12:11.

At Sherbrooke, Que., James Melindy scored the winning goal with just six seconds remaining in overtime and Alex and Allain Saulnier combined for seven points as Moncton (9-7-0) edged the Phoenix (3-11-2) for its fourth straight victory.

At Boisbriand, Que., Stefan Jr Matteau scored twice and set up one more and Etienne Marcoux stopped 30-of-31 shots as the Armada (11-3-2) crushed Acadie-Bathurst (6-7-4), which has now dropped four games in a row.


Screaming Eagles 4 Voltiguers 1

At Sydney, N.S., Alexandre Lavoie set up the first goal of the game and then scored the eventual winner as Cape Breton (4-8-4) beat Drummondville (8-8-0) for its first win on home ice this season.


Huskies 5 Oceanic 1

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que.,

Gabriel Desjardins, Sven Andrighetto and Jean-Sebastien Dea combined for three goals and nine points as the Huskies (11-3-1) picked up their third straight win by downing Rimouski (9-5-2).
