QMJHL Roundup: A look at Saturday's games @NHLdotcom

Anthony Mantha finished up the regular season on quite a run.

The 17-year-old scored three times and set up one more as the Val-d'Or Foreurs defeated the host Baie-Comeau Drakkar 7-4 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

In his last 13 contests, the rookie has 14 goals and 26 total points, which is one more point then he produced in all of his first 50 games of the season.

Nicolas Dionne had a goal and two assists for the Foreurs (31-32-5), who locked up the 10th spot in league standings, Mathieu Guertin had a goal and an assist while Michael Beaudry and Benjamin Casavant added single goals.

Felix Girard, Raphael Bussieres, Samuel Carriere and Jonathan Lessard each scored for the Drakkar (29-34-5), who could fall as low as the 14th seed when the weekend wraps up.

Francois Tremblay made 26 saves for the win as Jimmy Appleby turned away 32 shots in a losing effort.

Val-d'Or went 2 for 7 on the power play while Baie-Comeau scored once on five chances with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, Saint John 7, Cape Breton 4; Shawinigan 2, Drummondville 1; Quebec 2 Chicoutmi 1 and Rouyn-Noranda 6, Gatineau 3.

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Mantha opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 6:08 of the first period and he added another at 11:54 to give the Foreurs a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Bussieres cut the defecit in half 1:35 into the second period but Beaudry scored with the man advantage at 8:28 and Casavant made it 4-1 at 11:13.

Girard scored Baie-Comeau's second goal of the game 3:55 into the third period to make it 4-2 Val-d'Or.

Guerten and Dionne responded less than two minutes apart for a four-goal advantage that the Drakkar couldn't make up.

Lessard scored at 15:30 and Carrier scored on the power play in the final minute of the game to make it close but Mantha finished off the hat trick with an empty net goal moments later.

At Sydney, N.S., Danick Gauthier scored twice with Jonathan Huberdeau picking up an assist on both as Saint John (50-15-3) defeated Cape Breton (23-42-3) to head into the post season with a four-game winning streak.

At Drummondville, Que., Mathieu Gagnon scored the winner and Gabriel Girard made 23 saves as Shawinigan (45-16-7) beat the Voltiguers (27-31-9), who lost for the first time in three outings.


Remparts 2 Sagueneens 1

At Quebec City, Mikhail Grigorenko's 40th goal of the season stood up as the game winner as the Remparts (43-18-7) snapped their three-game winning streak by edging Chicoutimi (35-24-9).


Huskies 6 Olympiques 3

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Sven Andrighetto and Denis Kamaev each had a goal and two assists as the Huskies (24-36-8) handed Gatineau (26-32-10) their third straight defeat.
