QMJHL Roundup: A look at Friday's games @NHLdotcom

Alexandre Mallet is heating up at the perfect time.

The 19-year-old centre scored five times as the Rimouski Oceanic defeated the visiting Chicoutimi Sagueneens 7-4 on Friday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Mallet now has a nine-game point streak (10 goals, eight assists), with only one game remaining before post-season action.

Robbie DeFulviis and Scott Oke also scored for the seventh-place Oceanic (40-25-2), who moved three points ahead of Chicoutimi in the overall standings, while Alex Belzile chipped in with four assists.

Etienne Brodeur had two goals for the Sagueneens (35-23-9), Christian Ouellet and Mathieu Gagnon each scored once and Charles Hudon had two assists.

Jacob Gervais-Chouinard made 23 saves for the win as Christopher Gibson allowed all seven goals on 29 shots against.

Rimouski went 3 for 5 on the power play while Chicoutimi scored once on seven chances with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Saint John 4, Cape Breton 0; P.E.I. 6, Moncton 5 (SO); Acadie-Bathurst 3, Halifax 2 (SO) ; Victoriaville 7, Shawinigan 5; Blainville-Boisbriand 4, Quebec 0; Baie-Comeau 8, Val-d'Or 4 and Rouyn-Noranda 5, Gatineau 2.

At Rimouski, Que., DeFulviis opened the scoring for the Oceanic 2:37 into the game.

Gagnon responded for the Sagueneens at 4:11 but Mallet scored his first of the game one minute later.

Brodeur tied the game at 11:38 but Mallet scored his second and third of the night, one of which with the man advantage, before the first period was finished to give Rimouski a 4-2 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Ouellet scored the only goal of the second period on a power play at 19:29 to make it a one-goal game after 40 minutes.

Chicoutimi tied the game for a third time when Brodeur scored his second of the game at 9:30 of the third, but Rimouski scored three unanswered goals to finish the game.

Mallett added two more power-play goals while Oke scored even strength.

At Sydney, N.S, Sebastien Auger stopped 29 shots and Charles Coyle scored twice and set up one more, extending his point streak to 10 games, as Saint John (49-15-3) blanked Cape Breton (23-41-3).


Rocket 6 Wildcats 5 (SO)

At Moncton, N.B., P.E.I. (19-42-6) scored four unanswered goals in the third period then Ben Duffy added the winner in the shootout as the Rocket came from behind to beat the Wildcats (29-31-7).


Titan 3 Mooseheads 2 (SO)

At Bathurst, N.B., Zach O'Brien and Mirko Hoefflin each scored in the shootout and Robert Steeves made 26 saves as the Titan (32-30-5) slipped past Halifax (38-22-7).


Tigres 7 Cataractes 5

At Victoriaville, Que., Philippe Maillet and Yanni Gourde combined for four goals and 10 points as the Tigres (43-18-6) beat Shawinigan (44-16-7), which despite the loss still clinched top spot in the East Division.


Armada 4 Remparts 0

At Quebec City, Etienne Marcoux made 34 saves and Tommy Giroux had two goals and an assist as Blainville-Boisbriand (40-22-5) picked up its seventh win in eight games by shutting out the Remparts (42-18-7).


Drakkar 8 Foreurs 4

At Baie-Comeau, Que., eight different players scored for the Drakkar (29-33-5) as they snapped a six-game losing streak by doubling up Val-d'Or (30-32-5).


Huskies 5 Olympiques 2

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Sven Andrighetto scored twice and added an assist and Mathieu Brisebois scored once and picked up two assists as the Huskies (23-36-8) defeated Gatineau (26-31-10).
