Zach O'Brien is putting forth his best effort to make sure no one catches up to him in the league goal-scoring race.

O'Brien scored the first four goals of the game, and added an assist, as the Acadie-Bathurst Titan defeated the visiting Moncton Wildcats 7-4 on Friday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

The second-year forward has eight goals in his last four contests and 41 total in 46 games this season, putting him seven goals ahead of teammate Matthew Bissonnette for top spot in league goal scoring.

Bissonnette had a goal and an assist for the Titan (23-19-5), who have earned points in four straight games, while Christophe Losier and Ludovic Kabambi added the others.

Christophe Lalonde and Devon MacAusland scored a goal and two assists each for the Wildcats (21-20-5), who failed to pick up a point for the first time in eight outings, while Allain Saulnier and James Melindy had singles.

Robert Steeves made 29 saves for the win as Roman Will allowed four goals on 15 shots before being pulled in the second period.

Brandon Thibeau came on in relief and stopped 14 of 16 shots.

Acadie-Bathurst went 2 for 2 on the power play while Moncton scored twice on seven opportunities with the man advantage.

Elswehere in the QMJHL, it was: Cape Breton 4, Halifax 3; Victoriaville 5, Drummondville 4; Shawinigan 5, Quebec 1; Baie-Comeau 6, P.E.I. 1; Rimouski 3, Chicoutimi 1; Blainville-Boisbriand 4, Gatineau 2 and Val-d'Or 3, Rouyn-Noranda 2.

At Bathurst, N.B., O'Brien opened the scoring at 3:24 and added another at 5:34 to give the Titan a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.

O'Brien opened the second period with a power-play goal at 5:38 and his fourth of the game came at 9:34.

Kabambi scored at 17:57 to give Acadie-Bathurst a five-goal lead heading into the final period.

Losier made it 6-0 2:51 into the third with a power-play goal.

Melindy and Lalonde scored power-play goals for the Wildcats 1:50 apart and Saulnier added Moncton's third straight goal at 9:10 to cut the Titan lead in half.

Bissonnette scored an empty-net goal at 17:39 to secure a victory for Acadie-Bathurst however, MacAusland added one more for Moncton at 18:39.

At Drummondville, Que., Philippe Maillet scored a goal and set up four more and league scoring leader Yanni Gourde picked up four points as Victoriaville (30-15-2) beat the Voltiguers (17-25-5).

At Quebec City, Maximilien Le Sieur scored once and set up one more as Shawinigan (33-10-4) picked up its seventh straight win by defeating the Remparts (29-10-6).

At Baie-Comeau, Que., David Rose scored twice and Carl gelinas had three assists as the Drakkar (22-18-4) crushed P.E.I. (13-28-4).

At Saguenay, Que., Jacob Gervais-Chouinard made 29 saves and Alex Belzile's second period goal stood as the winner as Rimouski (28-20-0) defeated Chicoutimi (22-16-8).

At Gatineau, Que., Dylan Anderson set up three goals as Blainville-Boisbriand (24-18-3) doubled up the Olympiques (18-19-8).

At Val-d'Or, Que., Vladislav Shalimov scored in overtime as the Foreurs (21-22-4) picked up their third win a row by defeating Rouyn-Noranda (14-27-5).
