The Saint John Sea Dogs continue to increase their lead atop the Maritimes Division in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League after a 7-3 victory Friday night against the last place P.E.I. Rocket.
The win was the Sea Dogs (17-6-0) third in a row and they now have a six-point lead over the second-place Halifax Mooseheads.
Tomas Jurko led Saint John with two goals as Spencer MacDonald, Stephen MacAulay, Scott Oke, Danick Gaulthier and Charles-Olivier Roussel added singles.
Victor Provencher, Ben Duffy and Josh Currie scored for the Rocket (6-15-3).
Mathieu Corbeil made 19 saves for the victory while Maxime Lagace stopped 34 shots in defeat.
Both teams were perfect on their minimal amount of power-play opportunities as the Sea Dogs went 2 for 2 and P.E.I. 1 for 1.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Baie-Comeau 3, Halifax 2 (SO); Blaineville-Boisbriand 6, Drummondville 4; Chicoutimi 5, Victoriaville 3; Quebec 5, Rouyn-Noranda 2; Shawinigan 8, Rimouski 7 and Gatineau 6, Val-d'Or 4.
In Charlottetown, P.E.I., Oke opened the scoring just 1:48 into the game to give the Sea Dogs a 1-0 lead.
MacDonald scored at 5:44 to double Saint John's lead but before the period was through, Duffy would put the Rocket on the board at 19:21, making it 2-1 after 20 minutes.
Currie scored 47 seconds into the second period to tie the game at two, but Gauthier scored 39 seconds later to regain the lead for the Sea Dogs 3-2.
MacAulay and Jurco increased Saint John's lead to 5-2, but Provencher scored on the power play for P.E.I. at 17:56.
Before the period was finished, the Sea Dogs would get a power-play goal of their own from Jurco making it 6-3 heading into the second intermission.
Roussel rounded out the scoring in the third period with another power-play goal.

At Halifax, N.S., Samuel Carrier scored the shoot-out winner and Jimmy Appleby made 33 saves as Baie-Comeau (12-8-0) beat the Mooseheads (13-5-2).

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Anthony Duclair and Mikhail Grigorenko each had a goal and two assists to lift Quebec (15-4-3) over the Huskies (7-14-2).

At Shawinigan, Que., Yannick Veilleux and Pierre-Olivier Morin each had two goals and an assist as the Cataractes (14-6-3) defeated Rimouski (13-9-0).
