BOISBRIAND, Que. - Raphael Pouliot had two goals and an assist and the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada opened the 2012 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs with a 7-2 thrashing of the Gatineau Olympiques on Thursday.
Jess Tanguay added a goal and three assists for the Armada, who outshot Gatineau 38-21.
In the only other playoff game Thursday, Quebec opened its series with a 5-2 win over Drummondville.
At Boisbriand, Que., Tommy Giroux ahd a goal and two assists for the Armada, while Alex Micallef, Cedric Paquette and Marc-Olivier Roy also scored.
Samuel Courtemanche and Adam Chapman replied for Gatineau.
Etienne Marcoux stoped 19 shots for the Armada.
Starter Francois Lacerte made 25 saves on 31 shots for Gatineau. Mathieu Bezeau stopped six of seven shots in relief.
Game 2 of the beast-of-seven series goes Friday in Broisbriand.

At Quebec City, Logan Shaw had a goal and an assist as the Remparts cruised to a win over Drummondville.
Mikhail Grigorenko, Martin Lefebvre, Vincent Barnard and Gabriel Desjardins also scored for Quebec, which took a 5-0 lead.
Raman Hrabarenka and Michael Santini scored late goals for Drummondville.
Game 2 is Monday in Quebec City.
