PROSPECT OF THE WEEK - MATTHEW PHILLIPS

Matthew Phillips continues to pace the Victoria Royals offensively, picking up four points in four games last week.
The 18-year-old now has 39 goals and 68 points through 55 skates, averaging 1.23 points-per-game this year. He sits 14th the Western Hockey League's scoring race and is fifth amongst all WHL skaters in goals.
"His skill and his hockey sense are his best assets," Flames general manager Craig Conroy said earlier this season. "He's so smart. He can beat guys one on one. He has the ability to make things happen … he just finds the quiet areas and before you know it, it's a goal or he's set somebody up. That's what it is. That's something you can't teach."

Phillips' week started with a primary assist on the Royals lone goal in a 3-1 setback to the Seattle Thunderbirds on Tuesday. He followed that up with a goal and an assist in Victoria's 5-4 loss to the Thunderbirds on Wednesday evening and was named the game's third star.
A couple days later, Phillips played a key role in Victoria's 2-1 shootout win over the Kamloops Blazers. He scored the Royals' lone regulation goal and was named the game's third star for a second night in a row. He was held pointless in the Royals' final game this week, a 3-1 loss to the Blazers on Saturday.
Phillips and the Royals are back in action on Wednesday when they take on Flames prospect Nick Schneider and the Medicine Hat Tigers.
