Prokop's two-goal performance lifts Tri-City to 5-2 victory over Spokane @NHLdotcom

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Neal Prokop scored a pair of goals and Brooks Macek and Mason Wilgosh each had two assists as the Tri-City Americans beat the Spokane Chiefs 5-2 on Thursday night in the 20th annual New Year's Eve game between the two teams.

The Americans (29-9-0) rang in the new year with the best record in the WHL. Tri-City, which has won seven in a row, leads the New Year's Eve series 13-5-0-1 with one tie.

Brock Sutherland, Sergei Drozd and Johnny Lazo also scored for Tri-City, which also got 32 saves from Drew Owsley, who leads the WHL with 27 wins.

Owsley also stopped a penalty shot by Ryan Letts in the third period.
