Near the end of Thursday's practice, and in front of his teammates, Florida coach Kevin Dineen informed Gudbranson, the No. 3 pick in the 2010 Entry Draft, that he would be remaining with the big club. Gudbranson is set to play his ninth NHL game tonight, and once he plays his 10th the first year of his entry-level contract will kick in.

The announcement was met with cheers and hugs from the rest of the Panthers. According to George Richards of the Miami Herald, Erik's father, Wayne, was spotted choking up in the stands at the happy news.
