KENNEWICK, Wash. - Taylor Procyshen scored the game-winner for the second straight night as the Tri-City Americans rallied to defeat the Kelowna Rockets 3-2 on Saturday night to take a 2-0 lead in their Western Conference semifinal series.
The Americans scored three unanswered goals in the third period after the Rockets took a 2-0 lead in the first 40 minutes on goals by Jamie Benn and Cody Almond.
Tri-City rookie Brooks Macek sparked the Americans' comeback when he took the puck from Mitchell Callahan in the crease and poked it into the net at 5:43 of the third. Four minutes later, Petr Stoklasa tipped Tyler Schmidt's shot past Rockets netminder Mark Guggenberger to tie the game at 2-2.
Procyshen took a cross-ice pass from Mitch Fadden and beat Guggenberger with 2:43 left in the game from nearly the same spot as where he scored the winner in the series opener on Friday night.
Fadden finished with two assists and Chet Pickard made 24 saves for the Americans to pick up his 17th playoff victory.
Guggenberger stopped 31 shots.
