NASHVILLE – Dallas defenseman Stephane Robidas
will return to the lineup Thursday when the Stars take on the Predators after missing five games with a lower-body injury.
The 34-year-old , an 11-year veteran, said he began skating two days ago. He has two goals and nine assists in 32 games and is minus-4.
Dallas coach Glen Gulutzan said he would consider dressing seven defensemen, as a way to hedge against Robidas’ conditioning level. He said he would make the decision in conjunction with assistant coach Paul Jerrard
, who handles the team’s defense.
Gulutzan said that Jordie Benn
, who has played only one game this season, would be the seventh defensemen if the Stars chose to go that way.
Gulutzan also updated the injury status of a couple of other regulars. He said defenseman Sheldon Souray
has a mild high-ankle sprain and that Souray should return in a seven or eight days.
Gulutzan also said that rookie center Tomas Vincour
, who has been on injured reserve since Dec. 15, has a partially torn MCL and will miss another three weeks. Rookie defenseman Philip Larsen
(concussion-like symptoms) is day-to-day.
For Nashville, forward Brian McGrattan
, who leads the team in penalty minutes, will be in the lineup as Colin Wilson
will miss his third straight game.
On defense, rookie Ryan Ellis
will sit with Shea Weber
back in the lineup for the first time in four games after recovering from a concussion. Trotz said the second defense pair would be Roman Josi
-- who had played on the first pair with Ryan Suter
in Weber’s absence -- and Kevin Klein
. Jon Blum is the other likely healthy scratch, as he sat out Sunday’s game, with Jack Hillen
and Francis Bouillon
forming the third pair.
