NHL statement regarding use of Red Wings logo

NEW YORK -- The National Hockey League today released the following statement regarding use of the Detroit Red Wings logo:

"We are obviously outraged by the irresponsible and improper use of our intellectual property as seen this weekend in Charlottesville, Va. This specific use is directly contrary to the value of inclusiveness that our League prioritizes and champions. We will take immediate and all necessary steps to insure the use is discontinued as promptly as possible, and will vigorously pursue other remedies, as appropriate."

NHL preseason schedule released

Golden Knights play first game Sept. 17; Kings, Canucks in China on Sept. 21 and 23

NEW YORK -- The first NHL games played in China, the debut of the Vegas Golden Knights and the opening of Little Caesars Arena, the new home of the Detroit Red Wings, highlight the 2017 NHL composite preseason schedule. The 16-day, 109-game slate begins Saturday, Sept. 16.

The Los Angeles Kings and Vancouver Canucks will face off in the first NHL games ever staged in China as part of the 2017 NHL China Games™ presented by O.R.G. Packaging. The two-game series between the Kings and Canucks will be played on Sept. 21 at Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai (7:30 p.m. local/7:30 a.m., ET, SN, TVAS, NBCSN) and on Sept. 23 at Wukesong Arena in Beijing (3:30 p.m. local/3:30 a.m., ET, SN, TVAS).

NBC Sports to air 99 NHL games this season

National TV schedule includes NHL100 Classic, Winter Classic, Stadium Series

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Coming off of the most-watched Stanley Cup Final without an Original Six team on record, NBC Sports Group is scheduled to present 99 NHL regular-season games during the 2017-18 season, beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN, when the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins host the St. Louis Blues.

All games will be streamed live on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app to authenticated users via TV Everywhere.

NHL, USA Hockey, USHL announce multiyear partnership

Agreement aims to accelerate hockey development, marketing in United States

CHICAGO - With the 2017 NHL Draft as a backdrop, three of the most significant organizations on the hockey landscape in the United States announced a multi-year partnership geared toward maximizing developmental and business opportunities throughout the country.

Bill Daly, deputy commissioner of the NHL, joined senior leadership from USA Hockey and the United States Hockey League in announcing a long-term agreement that will provide financial support and other resources in furthering development of players, coaches and officials participating in the nation's top level of junior hockey - a primary springboard to NCAA Division I and professional ice hockey. The agreement establishes cooperation in the following areas: both on-ice and off-ice player development, coaching, officiating, playing rule development, and cross-promotion, in addition to marketing, communications and community engagement.
