As the Nashville Predators continue their quest to collect awards for their on-ice performance, the front office accomplishments continue to garner attention as well.
Already named the No. 1 franchise in all of sports by ESPN in October, with a number of other honors sprinkled in between, the Predators are one of six finalists to be named the Sports Team of the Year as part of the 2018 Sports Business Awards.
Run by the Sports Business Journal, the Preds are up for the Sports Team of the Year honor along with the Vegas Golden Knights, the Toronto Raptors and Golden State Warriors of the NBA, the Houston Astros of the MLB and Atlanta United FC of the MLS. A total of 89 nominees in 17 different categories will compete for the awards during a ceremony on May 23 in New York City.
The awards will honor accomplishments from March 1, 2017 through Feb. 28, 2018, a period that saw the Preds make their first run to the Stanley Cup Final in franchise history.
The Predators have sold out 97 consecutive regular season and playoff games at Bridgestone Arena dating back almost two full calendar years. The team has also instituted a season-ticket waitlist for the first time in franchise history, adding 2,000 fans to the list while also seeing a 100 percent renewal rate from current season-ticket citizens.
