Predators' Jones leaves after taking puck in face @NHLdotcom

Nashville Predators defenseman Seth Jones was hit in the face by a deflected shot in the first period against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night and did not return.

Jones was struck by the puck after a shot by Canadiens defenseman Andrei Markov ricocheted on the way to the net. Jones went down immediately and needed assistance leaving the ice with 6.8 seconds to go in the period.

The Predators said he was receiving stitches for his injury and announced just before the second intermission that he would not return.

Jones' ice time has decreased significantly lately. The rookie has an average of 21:57, but he hadn't played more than 15:14 in the six games prior to Saturday.

He has three goals and seven assists in 35 games, with a minus-10 rating.
