Nashville Predators assistant general manager Paul Fenton isn't being bashful -- he wants to be considered to be the next general manager of the Buffalo Sabres.
Fenton has been with the Predators since the franchise was founded, serving as director of player personnel for eight seasons, and since 2006 as assistant general manager.
Talking with reporters in Toronto on Thursday, Fenton said Predators general manager David Poile had been in touch with Sabres president of hockey operations Pat LaFontaine in regard to Fenton's readiness to run a team of his own.
"[David] was talking to them about me being interested in the job," Fenton said. "There's no question I would love to get an opportunity to talk to them. … I believe that I'm ready. I'm hoping somebody else does."
