Nashville Predators assistant coach Peter Horacheck will miss Saturday's game at the Red Wings after undergoing prostate cancer surgery earlier this week.

Horaceck has been with the team since June 2003. Prior to that, he spent one season coaching the Predators' AHL affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals.

"I am very appreciative of the coaching staff and players while I work through this difficult time," Horachek said, "in addition to friends, family, management and the rest of the organization's support."

There's no timetable for Horacheck's return. Saturday's game is the first of a five-game road trip that takes the Predators also includes stops in Phoenix, Los Angeles, Anaheim and St. Louis. The team's next home game is Nov. 13.
