Pouliot has shootout winner for Winterhawks in 3-2 victory over Silvertips @NHLdotcom

PORTLAND, Ore. - Derrick Pouliot scored the only goal in the shootout to lead the Portland Winterhawks over the Everett Silvertips 3-2 in Western Hockey League play on Friday night.

Pouliot the last Portland shooter scored and then Mac Carruth stopped Tyler Maxwell to end the game.

Taylor Peters and Nic Petan scored for Portland (1-0-0) in regulation time. Petan scored on the power play, as the Winterhawks went 1-for-7 with the man advantage and killed off three short-handed situations.

Josh Winquist and Josh Birkholz scored for Everett (0-0-1).

Silvertips goalie Luke Siemens made 36 saves, while Mac Carruth stopped 26 shots.
