Postgame Quotes
Anaheim Ducks
Ryan Getzlaf
On the victory
We're building. We have to keep getting better. Now that's a few games in a row where we've put together a good effort together and got a few results. We got to just continue to build on this.
On moving in the right direction
We're taking small steps right now. We're getting better and better. We're going to continue to build and try to get this group pushing the right way every night and every shift.
Adam Henrique
On his goal
We had some chances on the power play. Finally got some room and found some space. I was trying to look for Bergy [Pontus Aberg] backdoor, but there was nothing there, so I just tried to go shortside and found some room.
On the team's offense
It's getting there. Over the past little while, we've been getting opportunities. Just hasn't gone our way. We did a good job sticking with it.
Kalle Kossila
On his game-winning goal
We just got the puck, chipped it in and went on the forecheck. Ritchie was on it, got it to Gibbons and I just tried to find the backdoor. He gave me a perfect pass and I put it in.
Head Coach Randy Carlyle
On the team's performance
The game was back and forth. We found a way to score first and get ourselves a couple leads, but we let them back in it. One of those games where the puck at the end of the game, whatever we tried to do with it, we couldn't do what we wanted to do with it. We still found a way to win. We had a fair share of tough luck in the last couple of games with not getting the extra point, but we're just going to take the extra point and move on.
On Getzlaf's performance
You need your big guys to step up. We need more people taking that mantra on. Getzy is our captain. You see on the stat sheet, he's leading our offense night in, night out by scoring. He's not really been known over the [years] as a big scorer - more of a point guy who can create. But right now he's doing what we ask of him, and we're looking for some other people to join that wagon train.
Vancouver Canucks
Bo Horvat
On their power play being able to push through missing some key people due to injuries
I think we have some pretty smart players out there. Obviously, Pettey [Elias Petterson] working the half wall, going and getting the other side. I think he is doing a great job distributing the puck back there.
On not getting enough goals to win
It's frustrating. We can't blame Marky [Jacob Markstrom]. He's been outstanding for us, making key saves at big times. It's just not getting grade A scoring opportunities like they have been. I think if we tighten it up in the defensive end a little bit, I think that is going to drive our offense as well.
Derrick Pouliot
On tonight's game
Just kind of an inconsistent game. Parts were good and then other parts, too many turnovers and not getting pucks where they need to go. They [Ducks] capitalized when they had their chances.
On the losing streak
I don't know what the number is right now, but it sucks. We are trying to come work every night. Something has gotta give. Eventually, we are going to break through. We just gotta keep playing our game.
Head Coach Travis Green
On the overall game
I thought it was a pretty close game, 2-1 game, with a power-play goal being the difference going into the third. I liked our push at the end. We had a chance to tie it, but it was a close game. We have to find a way though. We're making a couple little mistakes that are costing us quite frankly and we have to clean that up.
On Jake Virtanen
I thought Jake got some juice on the third and I thought we needed a little juice. With his speed, he kind of can kick start a line and I thought he did that.
