Postgame Quotes
Anaheim Ducks
Rickard Rakell
On the game
It feels good when you get to score pretty early in the game. After that, we kept coming throughout the whole game. We created scoring chances and put pressure on them. We took a few too many penalties in this game, but at the same time, most of the time, our PK units weren't giving them anything. Feels good to beat them.
On the team's approach
We're starting to work together more and play a little bit more loose. Our mentality is just to go out there and help each other.
Jakob Silfverberg
On his overtime goal
Ricky [Rakell] made a great play at the line. I was just crossing behind him, and he had them looking at him. I got my skates moving towards the net. Figured I might as well try. I put a lot on it, and it went in. It was a good feeling, but Ricky was the one who made the initial play and gave me that room.
On beating the Sharks
It feels good, especially after last year in the playoffs. There is some payback there. It was a tough series, getting swept. It's always nice beating those guys.
Assistant Coach Marty Wilford
On beating the Sharks
I know they wanted it. You could feel it on the bench. There was a lot of emotion. They were engaged in the game. The power play scored a couple big goals. They deserved to win this game.
On the penalty kill
I thought they didn't really give them any free sets. Overall, they did a good job. They didn't give them much time to make their plays. That's what you have to do against good power plays.
San Jose Sharks
Logan Couture
On tonight's game
I thought we worked hard. I thought it was there for us. I thought we could have done a little bit more on the power play to score some goals. Obviously, we would have liked to get a couple of those [penalty] kills.
On if this game was theirs for the taking
Yeah, we were in it the whole game, I thought. A few plays here or there, a few chances we could have scored on when we had the opportunity and it would have been a different story.
Justin Braun
On tonight's game
The one point is huge, but I thought we played well enough to get the two. They were opportunistic and buried a few of their chances, and you come away with just one.
On limiting the Ducks 5-on-5
Yeah for sure, I thought we were great 5-on-5 tonight. We got the puck deep and we were grinding. That fourth line, I think they were in their zone the whole night. We need more of that going forward and we can dominate teams down low.
Head Coach Peter DeBoer
On what the difference was tonight
I don't know much difference. Close game going into the third. Pretty similar games. I thought that we were a little tighter tonight, defensively, I didn't think we gave them very much. The chances they got, they stuck in the net though.
On if they can build off battling and getting one point
Yeah, sure. I mean, like I said, I thought the guys that dressed tonight gave us everything they had. Showed up, played hard, played well defensively, and created enough opportunities to win a game. So, they did everything we asked them to do.
