The Ducks defeated the Los Angeles Kings, 1-0, at Honda Center for their sixth shutout of the season and second against Los Angeles (4-0 win on Nov. 1 at Staples Center). Tonight's decision also marked the first time the Ducks have blanked the Kings at Honda Center since Nov. 29, 2010 (2-0 victory).

Anaheim improves to 62-44-24 all-time against the Kings and 34-15-15 at Honda Center. The Ducks have won 13 of the last 18 meetings between the two clubs, going 13-3-2. Tonight's 1-0 decision also marked the 12th time in the last 17 Freeway Faceoff games that was decided by one goal.
John Gibson stopped all 24 shots en route to his career-high fifth shutout of the season and second in his last three starts. The win marks Gibson's 23rd of 2016-17 and his 11th in his last 19 starts. Gibson now ranks tied for fourth among all NHL goaltenders in shutouts this season and leads all goaltenders in SV% (.936%), GAA (1.88) and co-leads in shutouts (4) since Christmas.
Josh Manson scored the game's lone goal at 1:19 of the second period, his second goal and 11th point of of the season. Ryan Getzlaf and Nick Ritchie each picked up an assist on the Manson tally. For Getzlaf, this marks his team-leading 34th assist of the season and he now has 4-9=13 points in his last 17 games since returning from injury on Jan. 12.
Anaheim has posted a 14-7-4 record since Christmas, ranking tied for fourth among league leaders in standings points (32 pts.) and wins. In addition, the Ducks have allowed the fewest goals in the NHL during that stretch (51).
The Ducks improve to 21-1-1 when leading after two periods.
Tonight's attendance was 17,174, a sellout.

Any time Getzy [Ryan Getzlaf] gets the puck and turns up with it on that side of the ice, I know he sees you. He sees everything on the ice. I just tried to find a hole and he put it on my tape.
On tonight's game
We were breaking the puck out a lot better tonight. It led to more offense. When they got their chances, it was our neutral-zone turnovers. When we were playing the right style of game, that's when we were at our best.

I thought we played 60 minutes against a good hockey team. We played a lot from our net out, and that's what we need to do.

We played a solid game tonight. We were all positive on the bench. We got a solid effort from everyone tonight. We have to get back to defense first. For the last little bit we kind of went sideways, but it's nice to see we're back on track.

On the defensive effort
You have to look at the team game and the number of chances we gave up. We were well under 10. You have to give LA credit because they played last night. We didn't spend a lot of time in the defensive zone except for a few furies, and when they did, we kept everything to the outside.
On the win
It puts a 12-point spread between us and them. No matter what happens, 12 points is a lot to make up. They have games in-hand, but it makes a big difference because there's a gap between a team that's chasing us. You're going to see a lot more of that type of hockey down the stretch.

On the Kings' offense
We throw a lot of pucks at the net that either get covered by the goalie or the rebound goes to them. A lot of the time we can hold onto pucks and wait for a late trailer and find him for a great scoring opportunity, or drive the puck to the net rather than throwing it at the feet of the goalie from the corners. It's a good play sometimes, but a lot of the times we have better plays to be made.
On where they are in the standings
We're still fully confident we can turn it on now and get back into that playoff spot that we want to be in. The longer we wait, the harder it's going to be. Right now, we're losing points and other teams are winning games that aren't playing against us. We need to get on track immediately. That was the focus before tonight's game, and we failed. It's on to the next game and it's a must-win.

It was a good, tight game today. We came up short. We have to find a way to win these games. These are important points for us, and we can't let them slip away. We have to find a way to win. It doesn't matter if it's 1-0 or 10-0, it's a loss. We need to find a way to win.
On the score
A loss is a loss, [the score] doesn't really matter. You want your team to win, it doesn't matter if it's 6-5 or 1-0. We play for the win and try to win the points so we can move up in the standings and try to get to a playoff spot. It's a tight race, and we have to find a way to get these points. These points are huge for us. We have to stop the losing streak right now and start winning some games and put some wins together.

We played a solid road game. We didn't give up a whole lot. There will be chances against, that's the way it is. We didn't give up a whole lot, but in order to win games you have to score goals and we didn't do enough on the power play to generate chances and create some momentum. We're going to look at that. That's one of the things we need to get better at.

Probably wasn't as many penalties called as most games, which is the way you want it. You want to play five on five. It was like a playoff game.
