Postgame Quotes
Anaheim Ducks
Francois Beauchemin
On his video tribute
I knew it was coming, but I didn't know what it was going to be like. I still had some problems keeping it together because of all the great memories. They did a really good job.
On the fans saluting him
It was really cool. I almost wanted to go to the bench and take a breather, but I got right back onto the ice. It will be right there on the top of the list for memories.
Jakob Silfverberg
On his three-point night
It's been a little bit up-and-down for me [offensively], but our line has been struggling to find the back of the net consistently. We've been doing a good job playing solid defense. There is no better time of the year to get the confidence going. It's not just me, it's our whole line. Playing with more confidence.
On if the team is playoff-ready
I think so. The whole team is building that confidence. We're playing the right way. That's the biggest key. We're not cheating. We're ready. We just need to make sure we have a strong finish tomorrow and see who we get. Prepare from there.
Head Coach Randy Carlyle
On the team's performance
We had a really good start. We had lots of energy, we were really skating and had our feet underneath us. They're still an opponent that scares you because they have a transition game and a lot of skill on that side that can make you pay the price. They didn't quit. They continued to come back and found a way to make the game very interesting.
On the importance of home ice
It's always nice to have home ice, but I don't think it's paramount in any series. If we're going to play the deciding game, we want to play it in our building before we play it in anybody else's building.
Dallas Stars
Marc Methot
On Mike McKenna
It would have been nice to get him a better result. I think he is a great guy in the room. He is a good character guy. He has been around the league, both leagues, for a long time and he has paid his dues. It is great that he has an opportunity here to play a couple NHL games. Didn't get the job done for him, but that's the game.
On what they want to change for tomorrow night against LA
I'm not sure yet. I am sure we are going to hear about it though tomorrow, in the morning, with lots of video and what not with Coach. We know that it's a very similar game. They are heavy up front. They play a good puck possession game down low and defensively I think they are pretty strong too. Yeah, we have our hands full. We know that. You take a game off, they will embarrass you. So, we have to be ready.
Mike McKenna
On his impression of how the game unfolded
Not the right way. We were behind the eight ball to start and we just never dug our way out of it. So yeah, not the way we wanted it to go.
On his performance
It's pretty optimistic. I mean, I allowed five goals, so disappointed we didn't win the game more than anything. It's what we are here for and there's room for improvement. So, tomorrow go back, look at video, and try to get better again. Doesn't change anything for me that there's not more time left here. There's more time left in the season.
Head Coach Ken Hitchcock
Statement on Humboldt bus crash
Listen, our hearts go out to the players and their families of the Humboldt Broncos and not sure where it's at right now, but that overrides anything that a hockey game had, so that's a tough situation for everybody in Saskatoon and we feel for them.
On Dallas' play tonight
We turned the puck over at the top of both zones too many times and made mistakes in what we call critical ice and they took advantage of it. We had a lot of scoring chances ourselves, even ones that didn't hit the net, but we made mistakes in the wrong areas, either in our zone or the offensive zone and it came back to haunt us.
On Ducks playing like a playoff team
Yeah it is hard to evaluate. I don't think you can put it all in that, but they looked like a team that was getting ready for the playoffs. That's what they looked like and we looked like a team that still was trying, but they had details in their game that we didn't have and you know, that part I'm sure is disappointing for everybody.
