SPOKANE, Wash. - Chris Francis had back-to-back goals to lead the Portland Winterhawks to a 4-2 win over the Spokane Chiefs in Western Hockey League playoff action Friday night.

Luke Walker and Nino Niederreiter also scored for Portland, while Mac Carruth made 29 saves.

Tyler Johnson and Kyle Beach replied for the Chiefs. Starting goaltender James Reid stopped 24 of 28 shots, while Michael Tadjdeh stopped the one shot he faced.

The series is tied 2-2, with Spokane hosting Game 5 on Saturday night.

Portland's second goal prompted Spokane's head coach Hardy Sauter to pull Reid for the rest of the period.

Reid returned following the first intermission and finished in net for the Chiefs.

The Winterhawks' Tayler Jordan was whistled for a five-minute major and a game misconduct for charging Spokane's Reid at the 4:35 mark of the third period.

Beach one-timed a Jared Spurgeon pass for his fourth goal of the playoffs just six seconds into the resulting power play.
