KENT, Wash. - Portland scored four unanswered goals in the second period to beat the Seattle Thunderbirds 6-3 in Western Hockey League action on Saturday night.
Luke Walker, Stefan Schneider, Oliver Gabriel and Nino Niederreiter all had goals in the second period as the Winterhawks (34-20-3)overcame a 2-1 deficit after the first period. Portland also had a goal by Troy Rutkowski in the first period and an empty net score by Taylor Peters in the third.
The win was the 10th straight for Portland over Seattle this season and extended Seattle's losing streak to 11 games.
Brenden Dillon and Charles Wells scored in the first period for Seattle (14-31-9) and Luke Lockhart scored in the third period.
