REGINA - Brayden Point scored the double-overtime winner to help the Moose Jaw Warriors beat the Regina Pats 5-4 in Western Hockey League playoff action Wednesday night.
The win gives the Warriors a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarter-final series. Game 5 is Friday in Moose Jaw.
Eric Arnold scored twice for Moose Jaw, including a late third-period power play goal to force overtime. Point, a 16-year-old, picked up an assist on the goal.
James Henry had a goal and two assists for the Warriors, while Quinton Howden had two assists and Justin Kirsch added a goal.
Martin Marincin had two goals for Regina, both coming in the third period. Jordan Weal added a goal and an assist while Chandler Stephenson helped out with two assists.
Moose Jaw went 3-for-8 on the power play while the Pats were shut out on three opportunities.
Regina goalie Matt Hewitt made 47 stops, the last of which as a sensational save on a booming slapshot from Moose Jaw's Kenton Miller. The blast knocked Hewitt over and it took him several minutes to get back up. When play resumed, the next shot on net was Point's game winner.
Luke Siemens made 34 stops for Moose Jaw.
