Penguins NHL 100

NEW YORK -- The National Hockey League (NHL) will celebrate the nine current and former Pittsburgh Penguins players who were named to the 100 Greatest NHL Players list during a special ceremony in the second intermission of the 2017 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series, the outdoor game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh on Saturday, Feb. 25 (8pm ET, NBC, SN, TVAS2). Penguins captain Sidney Crosby and legends Mario Lemieux, Paul Coffey, Bryan Trottier and Ron Francis will be in attendance for the special tribute.

The 100 Greatest NHL Players list was unveiled during THE NHL100 presented by GEICO star-studded event at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Jan. 27 and included nine Penguins players - Crosby, Lemieux, Coffey, Francis, Trottier, Jaromir Jagr, Luc Robitaille, Andy Bathgate and Tim Horton. The 100 Greatest NHL Players were selected by a Blue Ribbon Panel, comprised of 58 individuals representing more than 1,800 years of experience in the game.
"This tribute to the nine Penguins players who were named to the 100 Greatest NHL Players list is another can't-miss event for Penguins fans," said Steve Mayer, NHL Chief Content Officer and Executive Vice President. "Our hope is to bring the 100 Greatest NHL Players to each home market around the league, and this ceremony will give all Pittsburgh fans in attendance at the 2017 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series a chance to celebrate their team's place in NHL history."
The second intermission ceremony is just one of many special events and festivities honoring the NHL Centennial and a century's worth of extraordinary players and teams, remarkable plays and unforgettable moments. The NHL's Centennial Celebration began officially on Jan. 1 in Toronto with the 2017 Scotiabank NHL Centennial Classic outdoor game and continues with the NHL Centennial Fan Arena, a traveling fan experience that will visit all NHL markets across North America in 2017, including Pittsburgh on Feb. 24 and Feb. 25, as part of The PreGame, the official tailgate party of the 2017 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series, held at Stage AE's outdoor music stage and the parking lot across from Heinz Field.
