It seems that pruple doesn't clash with black and gold after all.

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has had some unique purple tape wrapped around the top of his stick for the past few games. Coincidentally, the star forward has been on fire.
The Penguins played at Barclays Center on Jan. 5 when the New York Islanders were promoting "Mental Health Awareness" night. The hosts wore purple hats and players were provided purple tape to wrap their sticks up for the cause.
Crosby, of course, participated in promoting the night, but then he went out and put up four points in a 4-0 win against the Islanders.
So he kept the purple tape and had three points Jan. 7 in a 6-5 victory against the Boston Bruins.
With the purple tape still on his stick, Crosby had a goal and an assist in a 4-1 win against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday.
So, what started off as promoting a great cause has led to some great play. That's a win-win.
