Pitton makes 35 stops to lead Battalion to 2-1 win over Generals @NHLdotcom

BRAMPTON, Ont. - Bryan Pitton made 35 saves, including a sprawling pad save in the game's dying seconds, to preserve a 2-1 victory for the Brampton Battalion over the Oshawa Generals in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday night.

Brampton opened the scoring 14:02 into the game when John Hughes used a burst of speed to deke Daryl Borden on a breakaway.

The score held until the 7:42 mark of the second period when Dale Mitchell set up Brett MacLean for his 36th goal of the campaign, tying the game at a goal apiece.

The Battalion regained the lead at 16:35 of the second period when Bobby Sanguinetti dropped a pass for Cody Hodgson who tucked a powerful wrist shot just underneath the crossbar.

The Generals were without star forward John Tavares, who continues to prepare for the World Junior Tournament which gets underway on Dec. 26. Brampton (19-10-1-2) increased their winning streak to six games, while Oshawa (18-9-1-3) saw their string of three consecutive wins come to an end.
