Pietila scores in third as Devils hand Marlies first loss of AHL season @NHLdotcom

TORONTO - Blake Pietila scored in the third period and the Albany Devils beat the Toronto Marlies 3-2 in American Hockey League action Sunday.

Jim O'Brien, with a short-handed goal, and Mike Sislo, on a power-play, also scored for the Devils (1-1-1).

Matt Frattin and Kasperi Kapanen scored for Toronto (3-1-0), which was dealt its first loss of the season.

Yann Danis stopped 26 shots for Albany, while Garret Sparks made 28 saves for Toronto.

The Marlies were shut out on all six of their power-play attempts, while the Devils managed one goal in five chances.
