Pierro-Zabotel, Byron, Lavigne and Hotte win CHL monthly honours
NHL.com @NHLdotcomVancouver Giants forward Casey Pierro-Zabotel won the WHL player of the month award on Tuesday.
Pierro-Zabotel has nine goals and 19 assists in the month of January as the Giants went 13-2 last month. With 89 points this season the Kamloops, B.C., native now leads the WHL in scoring and also leads in plus-minus with a staggering plus-54.
Paul Byron of the Gatineau Olympiques, meanwhile, was the recipient of the QMJHL player of the month award for offensive play. Byron had 15 goals, including two game-winners and 13 assists last month.
Quebec Remparts goalie Charles Lavigne was the defensive winner for January. In 10 starts, Hoffman registered nine wins while posting a 1.76 goals-against-average and .934 save percentage.
The rookie award went to the Drummondville Voltigeurs's Oliver Hotte, who posted nine assists and plus-nine rating.
