Phillipe Maillet scores twice as Tigres power past Val-d'Or Foreurs 5-1

VAL D"OR, Que. - Philippe Maillet scored two goals to power the Victoriaville Tigres past the Val-d'Or Foreurs 5-1 on Tuesday in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Philippe Halley opened the scoring midway through the first period for an early 1-0 Tigres (12-6-0) advantage.

Thierry Comtois tied the score for the Foreurs (9-8-2) just under seven minutes later.

Maillet scored the eventual winner early in the second and then gave Victoriaville a two-goal advantage with his 10th of the year 48 seconds into the third while on the power play.

Yanni Gourde and Samuel Finn, into a empty-net, also scored for the Tigres.

David Honzik made 22 saves in Victoriaville's net.
