Kurashev awarded 2-year, $4.5 million contract with Blackhawks

23-year-old forward had salary arbitration hearing Thursday, had 25 points last season

Philipp Kurashev was awarded a two-year, $4.5 million contract with the Chicago Blackhawks by an independent arbitrator on Sunday. It has an average annual value of $2.25 million.

The 23-year-old forward had a salary arbitration hearing on Thursday. He was the first of 22 restricted free agents who filed for arbitration to have a hearing.

Kurashev had 25 points (nine goals, 16 assists) in 70 games with the Blackhawks last season.

Selected by Chicago in the fourth round (No. 120) of the 2018 NHL Draft, Kurashev has 62 points (23 goals, 39 assists) in 191 regular-season games.
