Connor posts 3 point night in 4-0 win over Flyers

WINNIPEG --Eric Comrie made 35 saves for his first NHL shutout, and the Winnipeg Jets defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 4-0 at Canada Life Centre on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old goalie, who has made 15 of his 23 NHL starts this season, also earned his first win since March 25.
"It feels really good," Comrie said. "It's a happy moment for myself. A lot of hard work went into that, but a lot of hard work from the guys tonight. They played a fantastic game and made it real easy for myself to see the puck and make a lot of easy saves because they were playing as good as they could."
Kyle Connor had a goal and two assists, and Blake Wheeler and Nikolaj Ehlers each had a goal and an assist for the Jets (37-32-11).
"[Comrie] is the type of teammate you cheer for every single day," Connor said. "You see it in practices, I'm sure you guys watch it all of the time, he's always one of the last ones off, putting in all of the work. So it's pretty cool to see it pay off."
Felix Sandstrom, who was making consecutive starts for the first time this season, made 23 saves for the Flyers (25-45-11), who will conclude their season against the Ottawa Senators on Friday.
"I think that [Sandstrom is] a battler," Philadelphia coach Mike Yeo said. "He is a competitor, you can tell, and he doesn't get rattled. Giving up a couple goals now in the last couple games and seems to find a way to keep competing and give us a chance to climb back into it."

Pierre-Luc Dubois gave the Jets a 1-0 lead at 5:23 of the first period. He received a pass from Connor along the goal line, curled up and shot short side on Sandstrom on a power play.
"It's tough to be the first team to be scored on and then we have to come back all the time," Sandstrom said. "It's kind of tough, but I think we battled pretty good. We had some chances in the third there, but unfortunately no goals."
Ehlers scored during a 5-on-3 power play to make it 2-0 at 7:33 of the second period, shooting under Sandstrom's right arm with a wrist shot from the left circle.
"I thought we stayed patient, we had a couple good looks," Jets coach Dave Lowry said. "We missed a couple opportunities, but we didn't start forcing things. We stayed with what we were looking to do. [Ehlers] attacks the net and it ends up in the back of the net."
Winnipeg went 2-for-5 on the power play. Philadelphia was 0-for-4.
"We kind of kept everything to the outside, but it's a 5-on-3," Flyers forward Nate Thompson said. "We kind of got caught out there. They have some good players who can make some plays. I thought Felix, he stood tall for us, but it's like I said, they made some plays and managed to get one in the net."

Wheeler extended the lead to 3-0 at 15:15 of the second, redirecting a centering pass from Ehlers five-hole on a rush.
Connor shot into an empty net at 19:22 of the third period for the 4-0 final.
"When you're minus-2 in the special teams, you're not going to win a lot of games," Yeo said. "You could tell we didn't have all of our jump here tonight, so what you definitely don't want to be doing is chasing. Especially a couple I would say were needless penalties. … We didn't seem to have the energy to come back, that's for sure."
NOTES:Connor has 92 points (46 goals, 46 assists) this season, passing Wheeler (91 in 2017-18 and 2018-19) for the most since the franchise relocated to Winnipeg from Atlanta in 2011-12. … Dubois' goal was his 28th of the season, an NHL career high. … Comrie has allowed three or fewer goals in 14 of his 15 starts this season.
