PHI@TBL: Perry roofs his first goal with Lightning

TAMPA -- Corey Perry scored his first goal with the Tampa Bay Lightning, and Andrei Vasilevskiy got his first shutout of the season in a 4-0 win against the Philadelphia Flyers at Amalie Arena on Tuesday.

It was Vasilevskiy's 199th NHL victory and the 27th shutout of his NHL career.
"Goalies are so hard to read when they're young kids and you don't know how they're going to develop," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. "Not only does he look after himself, his body, he knows exactly what he needs to do. But the mental side of things for him, that's what's come so far. There's nobody you'd rather have back there than him. He's exceptional."
Steven Stamkos had a goal and two assists, and Zach Bogosian had a goal and an assist for the Lightning (11-4-3), who are 9-1-2 in the past 12 games. Vasilevskiy made 34 saves.
Carter Hart made 31 saves for the Flyers (8-6-3), who are 1-3-1 in their past five games and have scored 18 goals over their past 11.
"Their team did a good job of keeping us to the outside and not giving us any second looks," Hart said. "They were solid in their d-zone, and when pucks got through, Vasilevskiy saw them."
Bogosian gave the Lightning a 1-0 lead at 2:28 of the first period with his first goal in 681 days, a one-timer outside the left circle off a pass from Mikhail Sergachev.
It was Bogosian's first goal since Jan. 12, 2020 against the Detroit Red Wings, when he was a member of the Buffalo Sabres.
"Skating is his asset, and when he's using his legs he can be effective," Cooper said. "Plus, he's got that big shot that he doesn't get off nearly enough. When he's shooting like that ... I wouldn't want to stand in front of those."

PHI@TBL: Stamkos follows up in tight to double lead

Stamkos made it 2-0 at 6:43 of the second period when he stuffed in a rebound off his own shot from down low.
"I thought our first period was competitive," Flyers coach Alain Vigneault said. "Unfortunately, they sneaked one through there right off the hop. Our guys battled hard, but in the second their power play definitely gave them momentum.
"For the last 30 minutes of the game we weren't very good. Our passing game was off, it created numerous Grade-A opportunities for them. They were the better team."
Perry extended the lead to 3-0 at 16:17 when he went top shelf with a wrist shot with the Lightning having an extra attacker because of a delayed penalty call.
It was his first goal in 38 games, since April 7, 2021 against the Toronto Maple Leafs while he was with the Montreal Canadiens. Perry signed a two-year contract with the Lightning on July 29.
"It was a tough start," Perry said. "Things were going in during preseason, but that doesn't matter. It's all about what you do in the regular season and continue to do down the road."
Alex Barre-Boulet made it 4-0 at 7:26 of the third period with a shot outside the right circle.
Barre-Boulet has scored in consecutive games since being called up Sunday to replace injured forward Brayden Point in the lineup.
"We've dealt with this kind of stuff before," Stamkos said. "Our depth has always been key to our success. A lot of people have been talking about the guys that left, but we've got some really good players that came in, including the young guys who have stepped up."
