Connor McDavid one of six Oilers to score in win

EDMONTON -- Connor McDavid had a goal and two assists for the Edmonton Oilers in a 6-3 win against the Philadelphia Flyers at Rogers Place on Thursday.
McDavid leads the NHL with 66 points.

Matt Hendricks, Leon Draisaitl, Jordan Eberle, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Oscar Klefbom scored for the Oilers (31-19-8, 70 points), who are tied for second in the Pacific Division with the Anaheim Ducks. Cam Talbot made 33 saves for his 29th win, tied for third-most in the NHL.

"It's a good two points for us," McDavid said. "It was a big game for both teams, and we found a way to get the win. It helps a lot."
Radko Gudas, Wayne Simmonds and Brayden Schenn scored for Philadelphia (27-24-7), which is 1-4-1 in its past six games. Michal Neuvirth made 19 saves.

The Flyers played most of the game with 10 forwards after losing Jordan Weal to an upper-body injury midway through the first period. They dressed seven defensemen with Michael Del Zotto returning to the lineup after missing 10 games because of a lower-body injury.
"I made the decision to go with seven defensemen and 11 forwards tonight, and the one risk that you run is exactly what happened tonight," Philadelphia coach Dave Hakstol said. "We lost Jordan in the second half of the first period, and that puts our forwards in a hard situation and they battled awful hard through it."
Hendricks gave Edmonton a 1-0 lead at 2:14 of the first period, shooting the puck from the top of the left faceoff circle past Neuvirth. Hakstol challenged that the Oilers were offside prior to the goal, but video review was inconclusive.

Draisaitl scored on a tip in front at 15:19 to put the Oilers up 2-0.
"We had a lot of blue-paint goals, second or third opportunities, screens, tips, stuff like that," Hendricks said. "That's how we're going to score goals, especially this time of year."
Gudas scored 31 seconds into the second period to make it 2-1, converting a centering pass out of the corner from Sean Couturier.
Eberle ended an eight-game point drought when he scored at 7:17 to make it 3-1.
"It's fun to put the puck in the net, it gives you confidence," Eberle said. "You can get so many chances, and that is a good thing because it means it is coming, but when you finally put it in, it is nice."
Nugent-Hopkins scored 1:15 later when Eric Gryba's point shot bounced in off his leg to give Edmonton a 4-1 lead.

Klefbom scored with 3:21 left in the second on a slap shot from the point to put Edmonton up 5-1, but Simmonds scored with 45 seconds left in the period to make it 5-2.
In the third, Schenn scored on the power play at 7:13 to make it 5-3, and McDavid scored at 14:50.
"We scored goals tonight, which was great," Oilers coach Todd McLellan said. "But I didn't think we were exceptionally sharp in a lot of the other areas."

Gryba had eight hits and a game-high five blocked shots in 17:48. He was a healthy scratch in nine of the previous 12 games.

Eberle gathered the puck during a scramble in front of the Flyers net and lifted a backhand shot into the top of the net over Neuvirth.

Hendricks' two points gave him 100 for his NHL career. ... The Oilers have as many wins this season as they did all of 2015-16. ... Del Zotto played 13:03 and was minus-2 in his first game back in the lineup.
